This
is an interesting piece of coastline with one of the
highest tidal rises in the world! With a drop of approx forty
feet, the tidal flow and variances make the Channel unique
and at times extremely dangerous...but with a little care
and knowledge the fishing can be second to none! Put in the
time and effort and you will reap the rewards! Use your imagination
to try new things and explore, and with the help of BCSF and
Secret Beaches your catch will improve.
The
River Severn has an interesting natural phenomenon known as
the 'Bore'. This is a small tidal wave that runs down the
river on certain tides.

Sea
fishing is possible all the way along the Channel up to Bristol.
As the water is very badly discoloured, heavily scented baits
are required to attract the fish. The water stays cloudy for
a long way and only really starts clearing west of Minehead
where spinning becomes possible.
The
Channel is an ever changing piece of coast. With the advent
of climatic change and commercial fishing, we may see the
disappearance of some species and the arrival of others. |
