Some
local knowledge of this low water venue is important. Fishing
is from sand and boulders onto sand and boulder patches. This
ideal type ground does encourage the occasional larger specimen.
It is a long walk, with the access to the beach via a climb
down a rope but in the wanner summer months the gain can be
well worth the effort.
Extreme
caution is needed as the tide can cut off potential escape
points.
Be
aware of the quicksand patches. |

| Tide
Range |
Two
hours either side of low water on small to medium tides. Bigger
tides are too risky and will not give enough good fishing
time.

| Species |
A
summer Venue, April until late September. Expect Small Eyed
and Spotted Ray to British record potential. Turbot and Pollack
to 1.5 Kilos (4 lb) are possible. Gurnard, Rockling, occasional
Bream and Trigger also show. Dogfish can dominate catches.
For those of you who target Bass, there have been several
specimens to 6 Kilos (14 lb) caught close in. Early and late
Cod to double figures compliment this versatile venue. |
| Bait |
The
prime offering for Ray, Turbot and Gurnard is Sandeel. Mackerel,
Crab and Rag will compliment this. Bass may also be tempted
on whole Squid. |
| Rigs |
Multi
- hook flappers for the Turbot, Gumard and Spotted Ray.
Single snood Pennells or Pulley rigs for the larger Small
Eyed Ray, Bass, and Dogfish. |

| Warnings |
The
cliff walk can be very dangerous, the path is narrow in places.
The tide will cut you off, so ensure you leave before this
happens. There are deep soft sand patches, so avoid wet sand.
Do not enter the water as there are Rip tides. Be careful
when descending onto the beach via the rope. |
